Monitoring System for a 39kWp Rooftop Solar Installation

Abstract A 39kWp grid-tied Solar PV system was installed on the rooftop of the TCTC Substation at the Chennai premises of Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The performance monitoring system for the installation is provided by iPLON. The system is supported by iPLON‘s latest in-house innovation soiling loss system. Partners : Larsen & Toubro, iPLON

Outline

Total Power 39kWp (DC)
PV Modules Manufacturer HHV Solar
Panel Type Crystalline Silicon
Panel Count 160
Module Wattage 240Wp
Inverter Type KACO
Energymeter Manufacturer ICD

iPLON did three concepts on the TCTC Substation rooftop.

– Soiling Loss System:

The soiling loss system helps in monitoring the loss in yield due to settling of dust on the module between cleaning cycles. It employs 1 current sensor unit and 1 iBOX premium.

– Weather station monitoring :

Weather station monitoring is performed using 1 iBOX Premium and an irradiation sensor.

– Inverter and Energy meter monitoring:

Monitoring of the KACO Inverter and ICD energymeter is performed using 1 iBOX Standard

The system has been completely commissioned and iPLON Germany is now working on the portal developments.
